Behavioral Health Task Force

AHCCCS, in collaboration with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), formed a Behavioral Health Task Force in March 2020 to address behavioral health concerns arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BH task force is composed of stakeholders across the healthcare system, including BH providers, health insurers, public health, and provider and medical associations.

The BH task force focus is on evaluating the COVID-19 impact to Arizonans through the evaluation of data trends, including crisis utilization, deaths secondary to opioids or suicide, and the availability of BH services across the continuum of care. Interventions aimed at addressing needs identified includes the implementation of the Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) in June 2020 and Physician Peer Mentoring Program beginning October 2020.
