Licensed Health Aides

As of April 1, 2022, parents, guardians and family members of Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) members who are under age 21 may be employed as a licensed health aide (LHA) and provide nursing-related services to their qualifying relative.

To qualify to provide, or assist in providing, health care services to a member under age 21 who is enrolled in the ALTCS, Developmental Disabilities (ALTCS-DD) or Elderly and Physical Disabilities (ALTCS EPD) programs, an LHA must be licensed by the State Board of Nursing and services must be provided through a Medicare Certified Home Health Agency.

Additionally, the member receiving services must be eligible to receive private duty nursing or skilled nursing respite care services, consistent with their plan of care.
