Clinical Trial Routine Patient Costs

Overview

AHCCCS intends to submit a SPA to CMS for review and approval, attesting to the state’s compliance with Division CC, Title II, Section 210 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (2020), which requires mandatory Medicaid coverage of routine patient costs furnished in connection with participation in qualifying clinical trials. AHCCCS is currently estimating changes to payment methods and standards and the estimated fiscal impact of those changes. This information will be publicly available upon submission of the SPA. To the extent that any expected State Plan changes are modified as a result of the SPA submission and resulting negotiations with CMS or additional guidance from CMS, the state will update this public notice accordingly.
