Protect Yourself from Unauthorized Marketplace Enrollment

Unauthorized enrollment in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace typically occurs through brokers and agents using deceptive or coercive marketing practices or unauthorized use of personal data to enroll people without their consent.

If this were to happen to you, no changes will be made to your current AHCCCS health plan. However, the Marketplace plan will become your primary health plan, which means your care and services will go through that health plan first. Your AHCCCS health plan will become a secondary plan. This can cause confusion, issues with accessing care, and potential costs to you such as premiums and co-payments.

Additionally, you will not be eligible for Marketplace savings (i.e., subsidies) to help make a Marketplace plan more affordable.

Watch for warning signs:

  • Someone offers gifts or money to sign you up
  • You get calls asking for personal information you did not request
  • Someone pressures you to enroll right away

If you think this happened to you, call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596.
