AHCCCS Receives Federal Grant Funding for Substance Abuse Services

AHCCCS received $32.7 million in federal funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) made available through the American Rescue Act Plan (ARPA). This additional funding will be used for services for underinsured, uninsured, or non-Medicaid eligible Arizonans who have a history of active substance use in the last 12 months.

AHCCCS will use this ARPA grant funding for specific initiatives, including primary prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery for general populations and pregnant and postpartum women. See the executive summary of AHCCCS’ ARPA SABG spending plan.

AHCCCS is required to expend this grant funding by September 30, 2025. Learn more about Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SABG) and the agency’s plans for American Rescue Act funding.
