Medicaid Guaranteed Enrollment Period

The first time a Medicaid customer is enrolled with a health plan, the customer is guaranteed six months of AHCCCS eligibility unless the customer:

  • Moves out of state
  • Is incarcerated
  • Is adopted
  • Was ineligible at the time of initial enrollment
  • Voluntarily withdrawals

This one-time, six-month guarantee applies to a customer who is approved for the following programs:

  • Adults - MA 401
  • AHCCCS Freedom to Work (FTW) - MA 402
  • Breast & Cervical Cancer Treatment Program - MA 404
  • Caretaker Relative - MA 405
  • Child - MA 406
  • Pregnant Women - MA 410
  • Supplemental Security Income Medical Assistance Only (SSI MAO) - MA 413
  • Title IV-E - MA 414
  • Young Adult Transitional Insurance (YATI) - MA 416

If the member was approved for a retroactive period of eligibility but was not approved ongoing and not enrolled, the member does not qualify for the guarantee period.
