Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS)
The
Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) program is for
aged (65 and over), blind, or disabled individuals who
need ongoing services at a nursing facility level of
care.
However, program participants do not have to
reside in a nursing home. Many ALTCS participants live in their own homes or an
assisted living facility and receive needed in-home
services. ALTCS participants are also covered for
medical care, including doctor's office visits,
hospitalization, prescriptions, lab work, and behavioral
health services.
-
The
income limit for this program is $1,911 a month,
although persons with AHCCCS approved income-only
trusts may have income in excess of this amount.
-
The
resource (cash, bank accounts, stocks, bonds, etc.)
limit is $2,000 for a single individual. When the
applicant has a spouse who resides in the community,
the spouse can retain one-half of the couple's
resources, up to a maximum of $104,400. Some
resources, such as a person's home, vehicle, and
irrevocable burial plan generally are not counted
toward the resource limit.
-
An
individual may apply at any ALTCS office.
- Call (602) 417-7000 in the Phoenix area, or
statewide at (800) 962-6690, for additional
information.
AHCCCS offers several low or no cost medical coverage programs
to Arizona seniors. To participate in these programs,
all individuals must be U.S. citizens or qualified
immigrants. Please be aware that the income limits
listed on this site change each year.
