Transmittal #53

Subject: Transmittal 53 - Deletion of Alzheimer's Pilot Project

Implementation Date: January 1, 2008

The Alzheimer's Pilot Project was originally approved to run for a period of eight years, from October 1, 1999 through December 31, 2007. The purpose of the pilot was to determine if a new type of Alzheimer's housing facility could provide quality care in a facility that was less restrictive than a nursing facility.

However, the Legislature did not vote this year to extend the pilot beyond the original eight years. Therefore, the Alzheimer's Pilot Project ends on 12/31/2007.

Effective 1/1/08, Provider will be changed to show these facilities with a provider type of 49 - Assisted Living Center. Therefore, people living in the facilities will continue to be ALTCS eligible but will simply have a different living arrangement type.

If you have any questions regarding this transmittal, please contact Mary Coons at 602-417-4136 or Dan McKeever at 602-417-4455.
