AHCCCS’ Role in HIT

AHCCCS developed a five year Medicaid Health Information Technology Plan (SMHP) that describes how the agency will:

• Administer the incentive payments to eligible professionals and hospitals;
• Conduct adequate oversight of the program, including tracking meaningful use
• Encourage the adoption of certified EHR technology and
• Provide leadership for Medicaid stakeholders and other HIT partners by participating in key organizations that are pursing a sustainable health information exchange.
