Encounter Unit Contact Information

Encounter Unit staff is available Monday through Friday (excluding State holidays) to assist contractors in resolving encounter errors or to research specific encounter issues. Pended or adjudicated encounter assistance, or training may be requested via the AHCCCSEncounters@azahcccs.gov e-mail address. Questions regarding validation and/or translation should be submitted to the AHCCCSTIEncounters@azahcccs.gov e-mail address.

The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 develops electronic data exchange standards that fulfill intra and cross-industry needs.

The American Dental Association (ADA) Dental Content Committee is a Designated Standard Maintenance Organization that maintains and distributes dental procedures and nomenclature for dental services.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) administers the Medicare and Medicaid programs, which provides health care to almost one in every three Americans.

The Department of Health and Human Services is the United States government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) maintains and distributes: Volumes 1, 2, and 3 of the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Edition; Health Care Financing Administration Common Procedure Coding System; and National Drug Codes in collaboration with drug manufacturers.

The National Uniform Billing Committee  This link is to content outside of the AHCCCS web site.
The National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) is a Designated Standard Maintenance Organization that serves as the forum for discussions that lead to mutually agreed data elements for the institutional claim as well as the data elements for other claim related transactions. The NUBC includes the participation of all the major national provider and payer organizations to develop a single billing form and standard data set that is used nationwide by institutional providers and payers for handling health care claims.

The National Uniform Claim Committee  This link is to content outside of the AHCCCS web site.
The National Uniform Claim Committee (NUCC) is a Designated Standard Maintenance Organization that provides national standard content and data definitions for non-institutional health care claims in the United States. The NUCC committee was created to develop a standardized data set for use by the non-institutional health care community to transmit claim and encounter information to and from all third-party payers. The committee includes representation from key provider and payer organizations, as well as public health organizations, and a vendor association.

The National Council for Prescription Drug Problems This link is to content outside of the AHCCCS web site.
The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) is a Designated Standard Maintenance Organization that provides a forum and support wherein the diverse membership can develop and maintain standards through a consensus building process. NCPDP creates and promotes standards for the transfer of data to and from the pharmacy services sector of the healthcare industry.

The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange  This link is to content outside of the AHCCCS web site.
The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) provides a forum for facilitating improvements in information exchange and management including the development of strategies and tactics, definition of standards, and resolution of implementation issues to focus the healthcare industry on achieving improvements in information exchange and management.

Washington Publishing Company This link is to content outside of the AHCCCS web site.
The Washington Publishing Company (WPC) is the entity that creates and distributes HIPAA documents and related information. WPC also distributes other electronic standards not mandated by HIPAA.
